Privacy Policy
Last updated: 2 November 2026
Remote Display does not collect personal data. There are no accounts, no analytics, no advertising and no servers of ours in between: the app talks directly to the computers you choose.
What the app stores on your device
The computers you add or discover (their name, their addresses and, if you choose to save it, the connection password) and your settings. This data stays on the device, is used only to connect, and is deleted together with the app.
What the app sends over the network
- Discovery. On your local network the app sends a short broadcast so that computers running Remote Display Server can answer with their name and address. Nothing leaves your network.
- Connections. The app connects directly to the computer you pick, on your local network or your VPN, with the password set on that computer. The connection is encrypted end to end. There is no relay, no rendezvous server and no third party in between.
- Update check. On macOS, Windows and Android the app asks GitHub once per launch which version is the latest (api.github.com). GitHub receives your IP address, as with any web request; the app sends no identifier. On iPad and iPhone updates come through the App Store and this request is not made.
Permissions
- Local Network (iOS asks on first use): needed to discover computers and connect to them.
- The app does not use your camera, microphone, photos, location or contacts.
This website
remotedisplay.app is a static site served by Cloudflare Pages, which may keep standard server logs (IP address, requested page) to serve and protect the site. We run no analytics and set no tracking cookies. The language you pick is remembered in your browser. The download buttons ask GitHub for the latest release.
Open source
Remote Display is free software under the AGPL-3.0. The complete source code is public, so anyone can verify what the apps do.
